Forgotten Old Barns: Relics of Our Past

Sep 19, 2024

Dr. Robert "Bob" Kroeger has been documenting the historic barns right here in Akron and Summit County as part of his passion to capture their history and preserve their legacy. He has shared the following about barns: "They're vanishing - the rustic old barns. They sit alongside rural roads, mostly unnoticed: their siding warped missing, their roofs sagging, their paint weathered. But long, long ago, they were the 'money makers,' the wooden buidlings that housed livestock, crops, and sometimes even people in teh early, formative years of our country."

On Thursday, September 19th at 7 p.m., we hope that you will join the Summit County Historical Society and Discover Bath Barns for a talk by Dr. Kroeger to be held at the Western Reserve Playhouse. The program is free and open to the public. Bob will delight you with his stories and you will love his impasto paintings of regional barns that will be on display.
