Sheep Have Returned to Mutton Hill!

Jun 20, 2020

Shepherdess Edie Steiner looks forward to welcoming attendees to Mutton Hill throughout the summer. Her four border collies - Rudy, Luke, Lincoln and little Owen Brown Steiner - will be herding sheep sometimes on Friday and Saturday mornings!

Edie and her husband Christopher, along with their friend Gina, have loaned a flock of Katahdin sheep to the Society. These hair sheep are a different breed than has previously been on the property then courtesy of The Spicy Lamb Farm and Urban Shepherds.

Edie, Chris and Gina purchased the sheep from the Silver Meadows Farm. They look forward to educating everyone about these sheep and for Quinn to have the opportunity to herd this year too. Quinn is Gina's border collie who is also the sister of Luke!

Remember, the Society's hours are limited during the pandemic. The grounds are open Friday 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and programming is free that day. On Saturdays, there is a $2.00 per person admission fee except for Society members and Ohio Direction Card holders. The hours are 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Please bring your own chair or blanket to be comfortable. A restroom and air conditioned gift shop are available on the properties but the Perkins Stone Mansion and John Brown House are currently not open for tours.

Society program funding provided in part by the Akron Community Foundation, County of Summit, Huntington-Akron Foundation, Modibo Mutton Hill Fund at the Akron Community Foundation, the Ohio Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the CARES Act of 2020.
